Florida Transit Manager’s Toolkit
In October 2020, National RTAP Transit Manager’s Toolkit was updated, and its goal is to provide new transit managers with the information they need to ensure their rural transit organizations are operating smoothly and are in compliance with the federal regulations associated with receiving Federal Transit Administration (FTA) Section 5311 funding.
While the national toolkit provides detailed information about all the Federal requirements for transit agencies, this provided the Florida RTAP with an opportunity to develop a compendium of links, resources, and information pertinent to the state of Florida of requirements. The Florida Transit Manager’s Toolkit focusses on the requirements of Rule Chapter 14-90, Florida Administrative Code and the Florida State Management Plan.
The Florida Transit Manager’s Toolkit provides a collection of adaptable resources that can be customized to fit the needs of new and experienced transit managers. The resources contained in this toolkit will assist Florida transit managers dealing with the multiple responsibilities a transit agency demands including managing their daily routine, responding to emergencies, and ensuring compliance.
The toolkit contains the following sections:
- Safety, Security, and Emergency Management
- Florida Department of Transportation
- Florida Commission for Transportation Disadvantage
- Glossary of Terms
A special thank you to all of the Florida transit managers that provided their insight and guidance in the development of the Florida Transit Manager’s Toolkit. The data that was collected provided by the transit agency staff was collected in 2021.
Florida RTAP will be hosting a webinar to provide a summary of the Toolkit. This session will provide an overview of content and directions on how to utlize the content. This 90-minute webinar will be held on on Tuesday, December 6 from 2:00 – 3:30pm. Registration is now open.
